Top work on the site Ros Well I can see the light, it’s around 4 weeks away but I can see it (famous last words)I can’t wait to here the exhaust note, the turbo whistle. It’s taken longer and far more money than ever expected but not for one minuet do I regret it. I will own the only race built 2F in the whole world and even if someone else builds one mine will have been first.Maybe it’s that pioneering spirt in us all that drives us to do these things either that or I ‘m completely mad. It’s a fine line
Well progress has been slow but steady, the new engine is finally in, as well as the newly refurbished gear box ( H55F ).Now at Melbourne Performance Center for a couple of weeks having the Turbo manifold made and all the intercooler piping as well as plumbing for the wastegate and blow off valve. Once back then it’s down to wiring and a few other bits before going back to MPC for starting and tuning on the 4×4 Dyno.
Well their are a few minor issues to over come with the thermostats The 2F has no input or output for the heater but has an input from the 2F water pump. The 3F thermostate has both input and output for the heater but no input from the 2f water pump Grrrrrrrrrr. The good news is the old engine is out along with all the bits that are been relocated under the bonnet, head light relays and air lines and alike. Next week will see the new going in with the fully re-coed gearbox Were getting there slowly
Well 2007 was the year of the build and the 2F-ETI is due to be delivered on Friday the 4th Jan. It took almost 6 months longer than planed to complete but as the say the best laid plans of mice and men. The aim now is to have the new engine installed and tested by round one of the Engel Challenge, on the 8th, 9th and 10th of March. Though there is much work to be done to be ready in time.
This site has been generated to help promote and catalogue the evolution of what once was a stock FJ40 into a full on challenge class competition 4×4 here in Australia. Although we are no match for the more modern 4×4’s at competition we are however able to compete and finish very respectably and from time to time put one over on the big boys toy’s. As one of the few remaining FJ40’s at competition we are extremely distinctive and always stand out from the crowd attracting plenty of attention. Always a crowd favorite as the under dog making good.
